The body of the late Colonel Thourout," (sic) "who committed suicide on Friday morning, was buried from his late residence on Dubois street, West Hoboken, yesterday. Ellsworth Post, G.A.R., of which the deceased was a member, accompanied the remains to the grave."----He had gone to the bank to settle his accounts and pulled out a small sum, which he used to purchase a revolver and cartridges. That evening he went to bed seeming in a fine mood.In the morning his son Louis heard a shot from the vacant lot near the house, and investigating, found his father on the frozen ground with one shot in the temple. Sons Alfonse and Harry helped carry their father into the home.Seven years ago, Thourot was married with six children, and apparently a happy man. His wife died, and her loss completely changed him. He pined for his wife and nothing would console him. He had often spoken of wishing to die, to join her.
